1 February 2009 The world of online poker has drawn those who are compelled by the online poker competition and the potentially large cash payouts that can be won. Mike Brinker from the US is an online poker success who used his cash winnings to gain independence and survive.Mike has won more than $9,000 playing online poker. Mike turned to online poker when faced with a choice that confronts millions of college students every year: stay in school or get a job.Mike played online poker as well as being drawn to the poker tables in Las Vegas. Additionally he owns a poker table placed in his basement to keep check of his poker skills.During his college years he was a dedicated online poker player as well as being a regular at live games around the campus. He tells ”I played a cash game my sophomore year where I wiped out everyone by the end of the night, Starting with $40, I left with $620.”Essentially it is the social aspects that drew Brinker to the live Aussie casino games, yet he claims that ”the Internet is typically the source for larger payouts.””The thing with online play is not everyone is a broke college student,” Brinker said. ”Some of these guys are $100K a year job holders. He doesnt care. He’ll buy in for $100, lose it, and bet in for another 100. Those are the best tables to sit at. You get in a hand with someone like that and make $100 in however long it takes to get Ace King over Ace Queen.”Mike is from academic background, both his parents having medical degrees. They did not agree with poker playing. However with $9,000 in his pocket made from online poker, Mike was able to gain his own independence. The popularity of the poker game, specifically No Limit Texas Hold ‘em is apparent in the success of online poker sites and televised poker games. A national survey indicated that almost 10 percent of men aged 18 to 22 gamble online at least once a month.
Professional uk casino games Players Stay in Control

A positive trait of professional coolhandpoker players is the ability not to get upset at what happens. In Texas Holdem, the professional poker player does not get upset when someone draws out on him or how unlucky he got in the hand. The professional player expekt this as part of the game and moves on. The bad player lets it affect his entire game.

As the sun started to rise in beautiful Melbourne, Phil Ivey shipped the $2,000,000 first-place prize after defeating Patrik Antonius heads up, officially welcoming himself back into the poker world as if he had never left. It was just a handful of months ago that Ivey disappeared from live tournament poker before returning in November at the APPT Macau. He didn’t cash there, but here at the Aussie Millions, Ivey made a couple of really big splashes. First, he placed 12th in the Main Event for $100,000, and then went on to ship the largest score of his career by winning the Super High Roller. The event attracted 16 players, all of whom ponied up the massive six-figure buy-in to take part in the event. The top three spots were set to be paid and a bubble of $800,000 was in store. Among the stars taking part in the event were last year’s champion Erik Seidel, last year’s runner-up Sam Trickett, Tom Dwan, Jason Mercier, John Juanda and Sorel Mizzi. In addition, the event had a handful of businessmen on the felt, including Richard Yong, Paul Phua and Winfred Yu. The first player eliminated was Dwan, who fell at the hands of Gus Hansen. After the elimination of Nick Wong, Seidel busted during Level 5 with the blinds at 3,000/6,000/500. He was sent out the door by $100,000 Challenge winner Dan Smith after his pocket eights couldn’t overcome Smith’s jacks. After Yu bowed out in sixth place and Mizzi in fifth, the largest bubble of the year was set to take place. The two players joining Ivey and Antonius were Daniel Negreanu and Gus Hansen. From that group, the only man not getting a huge chunk of cash was Negreanu, who turned out to be the bubble boy. On his final hand, Negreanu was all in from the big blind with the during the 25,000/50,000/5,000 level for around 750,000 after Antonius raised to 100,000 from the button. Antonius called holding the and was able to hold up as the board ran out . Hansen was the next to go, collecting $800,000 for his finish after getting all in on the flop with the against Ivey’s . The turn was the to give Ivey a full house and then the river completed the board with the to finish things off. When heads-up play began, Ivey held a slight lead with 2.2 million in chips to Antonius’ 1.8 million. He won a big pot about 45 minutes into the match to extend his lead to seven-to-one before the final hand came up. Antonius moved all in with the from the button and Ivey made the call with the . Although the flop put Antonius in front, the on the turn catapulted Ivey back into the lead. He held on from there as the landed on the river and Antonius was eliminated in second place. For his runner-up finish, Antonius scooped $1,200,000. Final Table Payouts Place Player Prize 1 Phil Ivey A$2,000,000 2 Patrik Antonius A$1,200,000 3 Gus Hansen A$800,000 With his win, Ivey leaps over Negreanu into second place on the all-time money list. Even with his long absence from tournament, Ivey took to the Aussie Millions with a vengeance and has put himself right back in position as, what many consider, the greatest player on Earth. The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand for the final day of the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event on Sunday. In addition, the final two event of the 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship, the $550 Australian Poker Hall of Fame Classic and the $10,500 8-Game Mixed Event, will kick off.

Strategy with Kristy: Ryan D’Angelo Discusses Tourney Concepts
January 19 2012, PokerNews Staff Related Articles Strategy with Kristy: Jared Tendler on the Mental Game of Poker Pt 1 Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Jared Bleznick Strategy with Kristy: Mike Watson Discusses Playing Big Stacks Share It Tags PokerNews Podcast, South Point, Poker Strategy Print Ryan D’Angelo, better known as “g0lfa” to the online poker community, has accumulated nearly $2 million in winnings. His biggest cash to date came when he finished fifth in the 2010 PokerStars.net Caribbean Adventure Main Event for $700,000. For this edition of the Strategy with Kristy podcast, brought to you by South Point, D’Angelo talks about the concepts “way ahead or way behind” and “slightly ahead or way behind.” Here is a snippet from the interview: Let’s talk about the “slightly ahead or way behind” concept. Can you explain what it is? Its big for no-limit holdem tournaments, I think. There are lots of times when youre trying to decide whether or not to call an all-in or when youre faced with a big raise on the flop and you put them on either a flush draw or two pair and you have an over pair. Thats a situation where if they have a flush draw or a pair and a flush draw, youre flipping. If they have two pair or a set, then youre way behind. I see a lot of people who just put their opponents on the hand that theyre flipping with, instead of really evaluating the other persons range. You should realize youre not doing too well against this range. Youre flipping or youre behind. So in spots like that, you want to make a little bit tighter folds. Its really tough to do when you have a really strong hand deeper in a tournament. But, sometimes you want to take the low road, and let your hand go if you dont think you ever have your opponent dominated. Like on a nine-nine-six board with two clubs and you have two red jacks. Sure they might have some bluffs in their range when they check-raise you or when you raise a bet in a three-way pot and the third guy goes all-in for three times your bet, but you have to think about your equity against their range of hands. If the guy has seven-eight, obviously youre doing great, but if he has a nine, then youre dead. You need to factor in, and correctly weigh those different situations where people could have you drawing dead. That will kill you long term. You have to make a bit tighter folds if you think that person has trips enough of the time or your equity is that low enough of the time. It rapidly climbed up the TRP charts and became the Travel Channels top rated program because of great poker tournament coverage from across the countrys best casinos. Each hand that is relayed on the TV screen causes hearts of poker fans to beat faster with the pace of the action speeding up across all the different channels the show airs on: from Fox Sports to Travel Channel to GSN, which is sponsored by PokerStars.net, viewers have a choice of which channel they want to change the dial for in order to be part of the poker claim to fame just like the pros featured on this show! #4 Poker TV show: Bravos Celebrity Poker ShowdownThis show really built up the games popularity, much like the shows listed above because it brought in a niche audience to watch their favorite stars vying for great poker prize pools amid light-hearted bantering and some fabulous on-screen chemistry between the hosts: Phil Gordon of FullTilt and Dave Foley who came across as naturals when it came to informative commentary of the shows action. Lots of poker fun, cool prizes, celebrity flavors and the rumors of poker veteran Phil Hellmuth taking to the hosting keep this TV show on the hot list of many card game enthusiasts. #5 Poker TV show: GSNs Poker RoyaleThis TV show about poker is unique because it combines two opposing groups that come together to duke it out at the poker table, across different segments like Girls versus Boys or Celebrities versus Professionals. Three players from each group face each other at the No Limit Holdem tournament and compete for the host of prizes and of course, fan favor!

Black Friday Saves One Players Money & Relationship
published on 04/23/11 at 8:54 am One person who will be saving money after Black Friday, is Steve Street3 Carse. Known to have wasted thousands of dollars on online poker sites, the recent federal take over of Full Tilt Poker will have a positive effect on Mr. Carses financial statements. Angel Valdez, of the Online Poker Team, fires some questions at Oklahomas number one degenerate. How much money have you saved since Online poker got shut down?I transferred my last $80 on FTP to Angel to bet on black at the casino. He informed me that I lost. So, I would have naturally deposited another $50 and in turn, ran that up to around $55, then lost it all. Then I would have reloaded again. I would guess since Friday, I have saved around $450. But, since I dont have online poker anymore, i am extremely bored and have since spent over $1500 on various illegal endeavors. Those intruders in their homes have names? Some call them Kids, and others call them Mom/Dad/HoneyHonestly I am scared to death about what this question means and wonder how much meth the interviewer has inhaled to come up with such a psycho question. I live with my girlfriend Kelly and I have not seen any intruders in my home. When they stepped outside did the sun melt off their skin? Did they get the vampire effect?Again, another scary question that makes about as much sense as a gaggle of coked up geese selling cookies to gimps. Is their ability to make money playing online poker myopia equal to lets say Charlie Sheen thinking hes normal?I dont know what myopia means and Im too fucking lazy to google it. Charlie Sheen has Goddesses, cocaine, no teeth and millions of dollars. I have Kelly, teeth and tens of dollars. You tell me. Why is chicke nmeth so addictive, especially among online poker players?A bit of history, Chicken meth was introduced in Arkansas by Jeremy Allen. Its a combination of meth, chicken shit and feathers. It gives one the ability to 5bet shove 73o into AA and see a 773 flop. Or at least thats what chicken meth benders will trick your mind into seeing. On the evolutionary poker scale, where would you place IBGPN?I would place him at the bottom of the scale. Somewhere between a single celled organism and tadpole. While he can swim with the sharks, hes often overlooked as his bank roll rarely goes above the $1 mark. His most frequent sightings have the word (OBSERVER) after his name. I just had a cup of tea and a grilled cheese sandwich. Comments? You must be gay or British. For the first time, the WSOP Circuit will visit the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. The event will take place from Jan. 1 through 12, 2012, and feature 34 different poker tournaments, including 12 official ring events that will culminate in a $1,500 Main Event. With the WSOP Circuit Tour breaking records at every stop, it was finally the right time to come to LA for a signature mid-season event, said Ty Stewart, executive director of the WSOP. Were pleased to enter a multi-year agreement with the Bicycle Casino for what is certain to be one of our largest annual events. The Bike, which houses over 150 poker tables, becomes the 17th stop on the 2011-2012 schedule, and will feature Mo Fathipour as the events poker tournament operator. Interestingly, this is the first time the WSOP has offered a WSOP-branded event in the Los Angeles market. The process of bringing the World Series of Poker to Los Angeles has been a long time in the making, and we are very pleased with the finalization of our partnership, said Hashem Minaiy, the Bikes managing partner and CEO.
